Inquire out loud

The Big 6 is an information AND technology skills teaching approach we are currently using in Grades 3 and 4. There are free lesson samples and other great bits of information on the website! Including how to use Glogster for the teaching of Big 6 skills!

The learner profile attribute we are developing during Changing Planet is THINKER (and inquirer, and reflective) and the transskills we are working on are THINKING SKILLS (in particular Acquisition of Knowledge, Comprehension and Application).

This all made me think more about THINKING and how I would really like the learners in my class to start learning to think more for themselves. It was with great surprise then this morning when I came across this post by Henrietta Miller of Classroom Chronicles.

The idea here is fantastic, it is RELEVANT, it is an element that would be fantastic to add to our classrooms.

This would work for the classrooms as well as the specialists (Italian, which could be in collaboration, as answers could be in both languages! Also Art, Music, PE…. ).

So now I am thinking of using STUDYWIZ and the blogs on there next week. Would it be possible to pose a question like this on a Studywiz classblog run by the teacher, and students comment? Would it be easier with a private WordPress blog? What do you think?

And also, what would be an easy way to start this? Would this work with Paper Blogging too? –> Actually, I think this would be fantastic with Paper Blogging! We could pose a question and ALL classes could reply!

Atelierista: Cross-Age Interaction

Great evidence for learning beyond the classroom walls. How can we encourage learning like this?

Looks interesting, what do you think?

Interesting article linked from Urban Preschool Blog.

I have just finished reviewing an IB document in progress called ICT in a PYP School. It is a very interesting document, but I don’t want to post if here, as it is a draft, obviously. If you want to read it, let me know!

In response to the Twitter discussion with the hashtag: #ICTinPYP (click on this link to see the search results that come up for the hashtag and see the power of Twitter), someone posted a number of PYP ICT display pictures:
